If you visited India, you might be shocked to see cows wandering around freely. That’s because in the United States cows are owned by farmers and ranchers and kept in pens. In India, where the majority of the population is Hindu, cows are considered sacred and can roam freely. Before visiting India, you might have assumed that throughout the world cows are owned and kept contained- that would be your worldview. Here’s another example of worldview: In the United States we have a strong focus on the “individual”-your success is often based on what you have accomplished by yourself. In some cultures your identity has more to do with your family or community, and therefore talking about what you have done or want to do may be considered rude. Have you been somewhere, either in this country or a different one where people had different ways of doing things that seemed strange or even wrong? What did you learn about yourself and others from the experience?

I think our world view affects how we perceieve others because if somebody is mean to someone, they are probably mean back to them and if somebody doesn't like something other people don't like it either.
You understand someone else's worldview help us understand him or her better because if they speak spanish, you will learn about spanish and there food and everything about them.

No, I haven't really been to a different country. When we did the activity I realized that if you stereotype people you might be missing out on knowing a nice person. But, because they might not have a lot of money you don't want to be with them.
Everytime I go to Brazil I hear the saying " we'll find a way" and then I relize that everyone helps each other in Brazil and I think that is great.

My view of our world is that the we are very fortunate than others and that we have sooo much more than others it is crazy. Imean really, compare us, to the people in Africa. They have nothing. The cake activity showed me that a lot of continents have a very big population, but then when you look at it by the income of people there, or what they sell crops, marketing ideas, the % went down.
We could use their ideas to do something about it. because every thing counts.
If you are greedy you might not care about others as much as a person that is very considerate of others.
I think it does because if you are very carful person you would probpobly think it through but if you just don't care that much, you would probrobly not think it through.

This morning when we did the stereotyping, i realized that everybody has something labled on them and sometimes people can tell want they are, but u can really see the lable. The first game is how people lable people at school even if u can't help it. the second game was how people lable people all over the world.

This really helped me open my eyes and be aware of how people actually treat others. This helped me realize that in real life people actually have labels on them and thats how people treat you. I really think that stereotyping can make people feel bad or good. For example: a person from a rich family that is very stuck up and snobby is going to love the way people talk to her/him and they will love their life. But then a very nice person that is not so wealthy won't get the same respect and people will never really get to know that person. I think that everyone would like the wealthy person better than the not-so-rich person. I have learned so much from this activity.
Some times were perceive that people in Africa are poor and need help. Also, we think that people in Africa are dirty and diseased, so we don't want to get near them. People also veiw people in other contries as outcasts since they don't have the same ways or culture as we do.
Seeing the culture of other contries helps us to understand them because we won't make fun of them because of what they beleive and their daily rituals that they may preform. Also, we can understand what they eat or what they look like, too, so if someone looks different from the people that we usually see, we understand why.
When we waste food we reflect that we don't really care that we are wasting food. This food is something that people in Africa could have and wouldn't take for granted. In America we take for granted the fact that we have soo much more food that we can possibly eat!

When I traveled to New Zealand, even though there are some in the U.S., I was surpised to see so many farms and stock animals. I'm used to cities and beaches, and I wasn't expecting wide fields and agriculture. But through my trip I saw New Zealand really isn't much of a farm country. It's doused with cliffs, surrounded by water, and plagued with beautiful islands. They seem to be more a tourist resort.
Also, when I visited South America, I was a little surprised at their customs. I visited a church and found they kept the bones of dead people in a large dark rooms under churches. Although this was shocking, in Peru, this might just be a way of remembering people who were close memebers of a family, or a friend.

I've been to many places where people have done things differently. One of those places are St. Lucia. There people are riding their bikes next to cars telling people where to go for just for money. I learned that I should be thankful for where I am, and not having my Dad riding a bike around town.(like the man in St. Lucia)

In Guatemala and Costa Rica and a bunch of other 3rd world countries, every thing is outside; the supermarkets, the resturantes, and all that kind of stuff. The schools are soooo tiny, and all the buildings are, like crumbling. There arekids that walk around the towns selling vases, necklacs, and things like that. a lot of the houses look like they are one or 2 rooms. I dont think they have air conditioning or TVs, and they definitly don't have commputers like we do. It seems wrong that we have so much and they have so little.
if more people knew how less fortunate these people are, i'm surethey would do SOMETHING to help. Some people do mission trips and give stuff to orphanages and schools, which really helps, but there needs tobe more people like that.
if someone has problems at home, or if they can't afford what other people have, they might not be as happy all the time. It doesn't even have to be a poor person, like someone who has a brother or something that is mean, could take it out on other people. We should take time tofind out about people before we judge them (that is kind of what we learned inthe game with the name tag on the back)
people can change their worldview by working hard and being a better person. we all have something in common: we all are people with feelings, and no one wants to be treated badly because of their worldview. I think that we are all good people deep down and that we shouldn't judge people by how they look, what they wear, or anythinglike that.

Sometimes we might not try to get to know someon better if we view them a certain way. Sometimes we need to see beyond how people are sterotyped and really get to know them for who they are.

You can better learn about them and where they came from. Therefore, instead of saying of they are ... I odn't want to talk to them we can get to know they and then learn more about their culture.

Two summers ago, my family and I went on a seven day cruise to Cosamel, Mexico. When we got there, around 7:00, we went around the city. It was like a hundred degrees out and the garbage cans around town made the town smell terrible. So when we were walking around the smelly town, we saw a young man and women trying to return this broken, gold chain they bought a couple hours ago. The jewler/owner wouldn't give them their money back, so there was all this fighting. I thought it was wrong that the jewler/owner didn't give them their money back. Also I was astouninded by the jewer/owner's behavor, because most stores in America don't do that. I learned from this experience, to not rip poeple off, because they could tell all their friends how horrible your business is. Also if you costumer is really mad, they could call the police!!!
