Today we went over our TDA work
Mr. Watson showed us where to find the book review things are on the blog. They are located on the on the left hand side and it is under book reviews
An important quote that Dana pointed out was “Pretty girl with faraway eyes. Why do you look with such surprise? How did you get to be so wise? Old girl in young-girl disguise.”
The book is obviously getting better, but it is also getting worse for the characters in the book
There were many clues in the story like when they went by the field of peasants and yelled “help, help!” Their response was running there fingers across their necks, like giving them a signal that they were going to die. Also when they hadn’t realized that they child was dead and then some time later they finally realized that they had died
Some metaphors in the book were “The snake smiles but shows no teeth,” and “Better the fox to guard the hens and the wolves to guard the sheep.”
Delaney’s discussion director questions = Why did the Nazi’s tell the Jews to lie down? So they would be less resistant when they tried to take their things. How did the Nazi’s convince the Jews to get in the trucks? They told them the government needed to relocate them. How did the child die in the box cars? He was suffocated or smothered and was starving. Why wouldn’t anyone believe Hannah when she tried to tell them about the concentration camps?

62: I am not a fortune teller nor yet a badchan. I see the malach ha-mavis. 69: the snakes smiles but shows no teeth. Relocating the Jews. Metaphor: Nazis are lying. Smiling, the Jews aren’t seeing the lie.

74: second paragraph. Good description of the things were there from the people that were their.
75: second paragraph” Hannah held her breath. IF she held it for long enough maybe she would wake up.
78: Some where a child cried out that she had to go to the bathroom. A little while later, a smell announced that she had. 78: the stench of the crowded perspiration, a powerful stew of human perspiration and fear and the smell of children being sick. “Yes, they ran their fingers across their throats” They are going to go through horrible things.
83: the child wasn’t noticed because of so much loud noise and stories.
After the discussion we went over our homework which was pages 101 and 102 in the vocab book.
