Our homework that was due today was to do our job and our journal response going along with chapters one, two, and three in Under the Blood Red Sun. When we came in for class are desks were in a circle. Mr.Watson passed out our hoot scenes that had been graded. After that Mr. Watson said to pull up our Journal Responses and our job. Mr. Watson said that he thinks it’s easier to do your job and journal response on the same word document. Before we shared our assignments, Mr. Watson had a wonderful speech about how he loved his job and that he looked forward to hearing everyone’s paper. Then after that we discussed what we had read the days before. People shared their jobs, journal Reponses and we had a discussion. Aubrey shared some of her thoughts about the summary, while Lindy connected to the story. Max explained how the passage he chose reflected on the rest of Tomi’s family. Later Mr. W asked the question, “Where does our water come from?” There was many shouts and crazy answer’s like, “pools!”, “H2o!”, “the sky!” Then Carolyn settled it with a reasonable answer. Mr. W explained that this story was taken under 60 years ago, and the water was hard to find.
Christy gave examples of skinny questions and thick questions such as, “Where was Tomi born?” and “Where and when does the story take place?” Aaron shared some words that he thought was interested, like, ojichan – a Japanese word. Carolyn shared her connector when Tomi was getting teased, she remembered one time when her brothers teased her.Mr.Watson says that if you think that the book is boring right now, the book will soon get more interesting. He tries his best to pick books that the majority of students will like, but it’s almost impossible to pick a book that the whole grade will like. We ended our class by emailing our journal responses and jobs to Mr.Watson for a grade in the grade book.

Our homework is due Friday, and it is to read chapters four, and five in under the blood red sun. Also for our homework do the jobs (they changed, so check on Mr.Watson’s board)also make sure (because a lot of people didn’t do it today) that you write a journal response on your thoughts about the two chapters.
